1. Introduction
1.1 The Jafakids Code of Conduct is based on five principles covering Respect, Safety, Personal Responsibility, Cooperation and Fun.
2. Code of Conduct
2.1 Respect – Having high regard for ourselves and others:
a. Respect others on the trail.
b. Respect the Jafakids brand and show appreciation of our sponsors by wearing the Jafakids shirt and appropriate clothing on all Jafakids rides.
c. Treat all participants in cycling as you like to be treated and not bully or take unfair advantage of another participant.
d. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
e. Be a good sport. Applaud all good performances, play within the rules, control your temper and respect officials, their decisions and use appropriate language.
f. Avoid smoking or consumption alcohol or drugs of any kind while representing Jafakids.
2.2 Safety – Protecting our right to ride:
a. Advise your coach if you have any injury.
b. Always warm up and cool down properly.
c. Wear the appropriate safety gear and ride with regard to yourself and others.
d. Follow your coaches instructions. If a coach says ‘stay off the structures,’ they mean exactly that.
e. Apply the following Jafakids Safe Riding Rules when riding; Maintain space between riders. Stay in control – Ride at your own pace and within your limits. Stop in a safe place – Off the trail.
2.3 Personal Responsibility – Being responsible for ourselves and our actions:
a. Be responsible for preparing and bringing your bike and all equipment. Expect to be told to go home if you turn up with missing or faulty equipment.
b. Bring the following to rides; Bike – Safety checked and in good working order. Helmet – Safety checked and fitting properly. Clothing – Jafakids top, gloves, suitable shoes, shorts and clothing for the weather conditions (thermal layer or rain jacket). Food and Water – Water and trail snacks (no water, no ride). Tools and Spares – Spare tube, chain link, pump and multitool.
c. Arrive on time. Notify your group coach if you’re going to be late.
d. Check and clean your bike and equipment after you’ve finished a ride.
e. Follow the New Zealand Mountain Bikers Code based on; respect others, respect the rules, respect the track and respect public access easements.

f. Ensure you or your parent/guardian has paid club, coaching or event fees promptly.
2.4 Cooperation – Working and riding as a team:
a. Cooperate with your coach, team, other Jafakids and opponents. Without them there would be no session, event or competition.
b. Tell your coach if you need to stop for whatever reason.
c. Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Your team’s performance will benefit, and so will you.
d. Thank officials and opponents after events or competition.
e. Not be in a rush to ride in a more advanced group. Learn as much as you can in the group you are in. You will progress.
2.5 Fun – Enjoying what we do:
a. Make sure you finish your ride with a smile on your face.
b. Act in a manner to ensure others I am riding with have fun and enjoy our ride.
c. Bring Jaffas to the Wednesday ride on the week of your birthday.

1. Introduction
1.1 The Jafakids Parents Code of Conduct is applicable to all parents, carers and supporters and is to ensure Jafakids can achieve its objective of Ride - Race - Realise through pursuing our rider goals of Safety, Fun and Learning.
2. Code of Conduct
2.1 As a parent, carer or supporter I will:
a. Before the coaching session, inform the coach of any specific health requirements or medical conditions in addition to those provided at the time of registration.
b. Show appreciation and respect for coaches, officials and administrators.
c. Not undermine your child’s coaches and ride leaders.
d. Ensure my child understands and follows the Jafakids – Riders Code of Conduct, Riders.
e. Ensure my child follows all club procedures.
f. Help my child recognise good performance, not just results and applaud all.
g. Never punish or belittle a child for making a mistake, ensuring they continue to cycle for enjoyment.
h. Use appropriate language at all times.
i. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sport.
j. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
2.2 As a parent, carer or supporter I understand that:
a. Only registered Jafakids can participate in group coaching sessions. Siblings or friends are not allowed regardless of their ability.
b. All children need to arrive, sign in and be ready to ride before 5.30pm.
c. I cannot drop a child/children off in the car park without ensuring that they have signed in and located their appropriate riding group and coach.
d. If a child/children arrive late and riding groups have left, they will not be signed in and will be required to either ride with a family member or miss the session.
e. I must ensure all children have a snack, water and appropriate clothing at each session, including a warm layer and/or raincoat if required.
2.3 As a parent, carer or supporter:
a. If I want to be a supporting adult member riding as a TEC, I must register my details with a club official, sign a coach’s code of conduct and follow all H&S procedures.
b. I may be asked to not ride with my child’s riding group.
3. Consent
3.1 I consent to the following:
a. I acknowledge that first aid will be administered to my child if required during a Jafakids activity.
b. I consent to photos and videos of my child participating in Jafakids activities to be published on Jafakids social media and website.
